After our stay at Jellystone Park in Canyon Lake (which you can read about HERE) we stopped for breakfast at a little place around a mile and a half up the road called, Granny D’s Home Cooking. This was our first time eating in Canyon Lake. There was a little bit of a wait to be seated, but I usually don’t mind waiting for two reasons. First, because a crowd is a good indicator the food is good. Second, by the time you get back into your car and drive around to find a new place, there’s a strong chance you’d have been seated at the first restaurant you went to had you just waited.
Regardless, the wait wasn’t long, and we were escorted to a back table where a young man took our drink order. The coffee was hot and strong, just what I needed after spending the weekend with three active girls. The girls knew how to entertain themselves, and the adults, while we waited for our food.
We arrived late morning and were able to choose whether we wanted to order from the breakfast or lunch menus. A small breakfast buffet is available if you want something fast. The buffet had items such as eggs, pancakes, and bacon. I was hungry after loading the car, so I went with the Mountain Breakfast Biscuit. Another item on the menu was the classic Chicken and Waffles. I didn’t get a chance to try any because my daughter ate them so quickly, so I suppose it’s safe to say her breakfast was good. Another member of our party opted for the Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich with Waffle Fries.
The food was good, and the service was excellent. We appreciated how attentive the staff was and how much effort they put into decorating for the holidays.
I was unable to find an active website or Facebook page to share, but you can learn more about Granny D’s Home Cooking menu by clicking HERE. If you’re ever in the Canyon Lake area, check out Granny D’s! It is located on 14312 Farm to Market Road 306, so it is easy to find.
