I have been visiting Vietnam Restaurant for years because it is one of my favorite low-key local spots. I found out about it through a friend who lived in Vietnam as a child and believed this was the closest to authentic Vietnamese cuisine she’d found in San Antonio, at the time, at least. Located on 3244 Broadway, near the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, Doseum, the Witte, and Brackenridge Park; many San Antonians have likely driven by without knowing they’ve passed it.
Parking in front of the restaurant may be somewhat of a challenge, but there is parking available on a nearby street and directly behind the restaurant. You may also want to go before or after the lunch rush to avoid crowds.
I never go without ordering the Spring Rolls which you can get in a half or full order, so they are easy to enjoy alone or to share. Every friend I’ve taken to Vietnam Restaurant has been impressed with how delicious the spring rolls are. The Bun (pronounced “boon”) with chicken and the Vermicelli are two of my favorite items.
If you happen to visit with a friend who is unsure about trying Vietnamese food, there are other options available like Sweet and Sour Chicken and various types of fried rice. There are vegetarian options as well. Of course, Pho is also on the menu.
As far as social media or other online presence, I haven’t found much out there for this restaurant except for posts by people who have checked in on Facebook. If you happen to visit, please let me know in the comments! I hope you enjoy this hidden gem as much as I do!
