Where to eat in San Antonio on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Are you in search of a nice Holiday dinner?  Tired of turkey and the same ol’ same ol’? Need somewhere to take your out of town relatives, so you don’t have to cook?  We found some great restaurants, sure to satisfy every appetite.

Open on Christmas Eve:

For breakfast or lunch, Chela’s Tacos is open for your Mexican food cravings with two locations near downtown. They have a great menu and are known for their chicken cilantro tacos.  Visit their menu HERE

If you’re in the mood for Texas barbecue with all the fixins, including peach, pecan cobbler and banana pudding, then visit Dee Willie’s BBQ on the northeast side of town.  Their yummy menu is HERE

Fish City Grill features fantastic seafood and has a cool, laid back atmosphere on the north side of town.  My favorite appetizer is the oyster nachos.  Ask for a sample! Visit their website for blackboard specials HERE

For Chinese cuisine, Ding How is a great choice for the holidays.  They have an extensive menu as well as a large space for all your relatives.  Known as “The Restaurant on Stilts”, they feature over 100 menu items.  Visit their site HERE

For a more upscale dinner, Meadow Neighborhood Eatery + Bar may be the place for you.  A brand new restaurant at Artisan Alley on Bitters, they have a special Christmas Eve menu that looks divine, and ask that you make reservations HERE

You can’t go wrong with a classic like Paesano’s.  Their shrimp Paesano is so good, you’ll need a nap afterward. They have a special holiday menu that includes dessert.  With three locations including Lincoln Heights, The Riverwalk, and Loop 1604 North, there’s sure to be one near you. Look them up HERE

Periphery, located just north of downtown in Monte Vista, serves up food “influenced by the American South and Italy”, sounds like a scrumptious combination!  Their website mentions they may tweak or change up the menu every so often, so that keeps it interesting. Visit their website HERE

Open on Christmas Day:

20Nine Restaurant & Wine Bar has a special Christmas Day three course menu. The roasted butternut squash bisque is sure to be a hit.  Located in the Quarry Market, they ask that you make a reservation. Visit their Facebook page HERE

For Thai food that doesn’t disappoint, Thai Dee is a hit.  They were voted best Thai food by San Antonio Current magazine.  If you’re not from around here, that’s a big deal as the Current is a great foodie resource. HERE

Located on West Avenue, Jacala Mexican Restaurant has been awarded best enchiladas numerous times by the San Antonio Express Newspaper. You can find their yummy menus HERE

For classic Chinese food, visit Hung Fong off Broadway.  They serve family style entrées and boast they are the oldest Chinese restaurant in Texas (since 1939).  A favorite of mine is the coconut shrimp.  After indulging, take a stroll at nearby Brackenridge Park.  See their menu HERE

Merry Christmas from the CheckOut San Antonio family to yours!
